Said It

Often, even the most intelligent people come to rest in the “cool pose“, the smarty-intellectual ironic distancing that thinks it is, in its very being, itself a critique of the conventional and the mundane and the dead and the confining. “Cool” is taken to be its own dismantling of the stodgy philosophies of old, of the expended belief-systems, and the outdated, retrograde value systems of the dominant economic system with its corporate soullessness.

But without offering or practicing any practical path for continually evolving oneself, continually updating one’s experiences, one’s hurts and pains and hopes, the hipster view is often just another mask, and just a cultivated copout from doing anything committed to bringing real and effective change to oneself, beginning with one’s immediate environment of relations.
