It looks like the AMOC (Atlantic meridional overturning circulation) collapse is already well underway, and happening much, much sooner than expected.
This is a very recent (April 17, 2024) lecture by Stefan Rahmstorf (b. 1960), the eminent German oceanographer and climatologist, a Professor of Physics of the Oceans at Potsdam University. He gave this lecture on the occasion of his receiving the prestigious Alfred Wegener Medal — the most prestigious award of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) — in recognition of his many scientific achievements, particularly with regard to climate science.
