It’s why, in Zen Center life, in the life of our Community, we experience silence practice from waking at 4:20 am, through formal practice, until end of breakfast around 7:20 am — seven days a week. Why every one of those days, we return to enjoy silent lunch together every single day at 12, and silent evening practice from 19:00 to about 20:30. Every day.
Without this silence, don’t matter squat what you’re doing religiously — in any spiritual practice, or any tradition — it’s all just useless moldy-word-based high-minded blather, if there is no true and sustained silence practice.
