Rumi, like Zen, is never ever wrong — not once. The problem is, he opens his big fucking mouth for you to understand it: He says the quiet part out loud. Gets you into all sorts of trouble — just ask his brother, Jesus.
As Master Tau Hui (1089 – 1163) said, “In the conduct of their daily activities, sentient beings have no illumination: If you go along with their ignorance, they’re happy; if you oppose their ignorance, they become vexed.”
Try, try, try, for 10,000 years. And sometimes “trying” means leaving them to their willful slumber.
