The inscription on a marker in Youghal, Co. Cork (my maternal home) inside St. Mary Collegiate Church, It is on the grave of Robert Boyle (1627-1691) (Boyle’s Gas Law), “the father of chemistry”; Boyle was the most influential scientist born in Ireland:
“All you that doth my grave pass by
As you are now, so once was I,
As I am now, so you must be
Prepare for death & follow me.”
