This work of Daniel Martin Diaz came to my attention quite recently. I immediately connected with his vision and his very powerful expression — the mood, the coloration, the medium, the atmosphere, the search for some meaning. From fine neural tendrils to the angular computer circuitry of the silicone motherboards of my birth-home, I felt a deep resonance with his vision from the very first moment. (Having all of the Catholic symbolism also made it instantly familiar, of course.) Daniel Martin Diaz is that rare artist who comments with real clarity and originality on consciousness/spirituality, history, millenarian philosophy, iconography, symbology, sacred geometry, and “mystical behaviours atomic and subatomic levels”, as his website states, without feeling overly snarky, self-conscious, or self-referential. He is at once deeply studied and yet refreshingly naive.
Further,
“Based in Tucson, Arizona, Daniel Martin Diaz is a fine artist with an insatiable curiosity to explore the mysteries of life and science. His work has been exhibited worldwide and has been published in LA times, NY Times, Juxtapoz, High Fructose, and Low Rider Magazine, and four personal art books. Diaz has designed artwork for large public art projects in the US and has won many awards such as a gold and platinum record designed for Atlantic Records.” — http://danielmartindiaz.com
“Over the past few years, I have become immersed in scientific and philosophical concepts, such as Anatomy, Computer Science, Math, Cosmology, Biology, Quantum Physics, and Consciousness. I have been particularly fascinated with scientific diagrams, which explain theories and properties through imagery. Although these rudimentary images are without any leanings towards aesthetics, I find them to be beautiful, though that is not the intention. All of the projects I have created begin as drawings, which I feel has a beauty and intimacy that painting cannot capture. The subtle lines that graphite creates, and the quickness in which one can capture an idea makes this medium alluring.” — The Artist

“Art articulates the unknown. Its brings awareness and elements of being that have not yet entered the collective consciousness. It expands the landscape and moves civilization forward into the realm of the undiscovered It tries to dissect what is yet unimaginable, give value to the valueless, and meaning to what it is to be human.” — The Artist
