Reply to a Reader: Come to Regensburg?

Question:

Question: I left Western monastic life, Trappist monk, year and a half, Carthusian hermit, same, year and a half. In 2003, took Five Precepts Kwan Um School. Soon, will be at PZC for “come and see” visit. If possible, may I come to practice with you in Germany.?
I am tempted to say more, about Harvard Square, born in Cambridge, employed at Saint Paul’s Parish, Fr. J. Bryan Hehir was my boss, and Dean, I believe, at Harvard Divinity School. Love the Square! Okay. Too much already. I hope to come and practice with you. When you have a moment, please let me know.
Thank you Sunim. I am grateful to you.  — Bruce

Reply to a Reader: Zen and Catholic Practice

Question:

Can one begin a practice of Zen while belonging and participating in another religion, eg Roman Catholicism? I’m imagining something like being involved with a sangha and also going to Communion on Sundays. Does it diminish the integrity of the Zen way to have ‘dual citizenship’ in this manner?
